Abstract: In an Editorial to the January 2009 issue, we reported that we had been informed by Thomson Reuters in the USA that the Chiang Mai Journal of Science had been selected for coverage in their products and information services starting with our January 2008 (Vol. 35, No. 1) issue. This was as a result of an evaluation process by Thomson Reuters that had taken place in 2007 and which had concluded that our Journal was of sufficiently high quality to be selected for indexing. Subsequently, since January 2008, the contents of the Journal have been surveyed and indexed in:
♦ Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch®) and ♦ Journal Citation Reports / Science Edition This indexing process has taken 3 years to complete. In the first 2 years, 2008 and 2009, the number of articles published in the Journal was counted. Then throughout 2010, the number of cites to those articles published in 2008 and 2009 were counted. Provided that this information is complete and that the Journal has been published regularly and on time (which it has) during these 3 years, we are hoping to receive our first Impact Factor (for 2010) sometime during the middle of 2011. Impact Factor 2010 = number of cites in 2010 to articles published in 2008+2009 number of articles published in 2008+2009 Another notable development for 2011 is that the Journal will increase its frequency of publication from 3 to 4 issues per year, not including any Special Issues that might be published. Therefore, starting with this January 2011 issue, the Journal will be published every January, April, July and October. This will enable us to clear the backlog of papers in process more quickly and speed up the time to publication. Finally, in keeping with the Journal’s status as an international journal, we now have a new website via which papers can be submitted. The address of the new website is: http://it.science.cmu.ac.th/ejournal/ although it can still be accessed via the formeraddress at: http://www.science.cmu.ac.th/journal-science/josci.html The main advantages to be gained from this are that the new website will improve the efficiency and convenience of manuscript processing and increase our visibility to the global scientific community including the search engines and databases that extract their information about our Journal from our website. In reporting these latest developments, the Editorial Board would like to thank all those who have contributed to helping the Journal achieve the level that it has now reached. Of course, improving the Journal in all its aspects is a continuous process but this year 2011 promises to be a particularly memorable year in the history of the Chiang Mai Journal of Science. |
