Abstract: Thyronectria species inhabit temperate zones in both the northern and southern hemispheres, as well as subtropical regions throughout Asia, including China. This study reports a new species, Thyronectria kunmingensis, from Yunnan Province, China, discovered on the dead branch of an unidentified host. The species exhibits both sexual and asexual morphs on the same host. Sequence data support its placement within Thyronectria, based on a multi-locus phylogenetic analysis using ITS and LSU. Thyronectria kunmingensis forms a clade with T. citri and T. sopharae, but it differs in its larger ascomata, asci, and conidiophores from the latter species. |
