Mission and Scope

The main mission of the Chiang Mai Journal of Science is to provide a forum for scientists both in Thailand and abroad to publish their work in a peer-reviewed, impact factor journal. Since the Journal is based in and funded by a university Faculty of Science, another important aim is to provide a less daunting pathway for young research staff and their students to get their first papers published before they progress on to more prestigious international journals. Thus, the Journal attracts papers from a broad spectrum of the scientific community. With more emphasis and importance being attached to research in universities in Thailand and elsewhere, the Journal is mindful of providing a valuable academic service in helping researchers to get their work published and made available for wider dissemination.

Editorial Policies

The Chiang Mai Journal of Science adheres strictly to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Papers which have already been published in other journals or which are under consideration by other journals should not be submitted. Similarly, papers already published in the Journal should not be submitted to other journals. Manuscripts that are suspected to involve plagiarism or other types of ethical misconduct will be rejected. Following submission, a manuscript passes through an initial screening process by the Editor in order to determine its overall suitability. If considered suitable, it is then sent by the handling Associate Editor to a minimum of two external reviewers (double-blind system) for detailed evaluation. Normally, this review process from time of submission to a final decision takes not more than 3 months and then not more than another 4 months to publication.
