Abstract

A two steps synthesis of (+) 3-acetoxy-2-methylene-4-cyclopentenone was achieved, starting from epoxy-2-methylenecyclopentanone anthracene adduct. The key reaction involved flash vacuum pyrolysis of epoxy-2-methylenecyclopentanone anthracene adduct and acetylation of the resulting product.

Keywords: cyclopentenones, pentenomycin, epipentenomycin, synthesis
