Abstract: Cobalt doped titania-silica prepared by using cattail (Typha latifolia Linn) leaves as template and aqueous TiOCl2 solution as titania source presented good product for the catalytic oxidation of
tetralin. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, catalyst concentration, and age of catalyst
were investigated. Under the optimum Ti/Si molar ratio: 0.6, reaction temperature: 370 k, reaction
time: 10 h, and the amount of catalyst: 5 0mg, cobalt doped titania-silica was used as a catalyst for the
oxidation of tetralin and exhibited high substrate conversion (97.6%) and good product (tetralon)
selectivity (78.5%). Recycling of the catalyst indicates that the catalyst can be used a number of times
without losing its activity to a greater extent. |
