Abstract: This paper presents the feasibility study of plastic fiber coupler characteristics for near infrared transmission use. The straight fiber and tapered plastic fiber coupler were prepared and investigated, the device transmission power losses and characteristics were the subject of the study. Such a device was employed in the optical system to investigate for the use in measurement and communication proposes. Results obtained have shown the potential of using such plastic optical fiber in near infrared transmission system.
