Abstract: Polyacrylamide-divinylbenzene functionalized Fe3O4/coconut shell adsorbent (MCSBR) was prepared by simple suspension polymerization method. The samples were characterized by FTIR, SEM
and Zeta potentials. On this basis, the adsorption performance of MCSBR was studied by acridine
orange(AO) as the model. Effect of experimental parameters including pH, shaking time, initial
concentrations, temperature and ionic strength on adsorption capacity of MCSBR were studied. The
adsorption kinetics was fitted with pseudo-second-order kinetics model better. Adsorption equilibrium
of AO on MCSBR was evaluated using Langmuir and Freundlich models. Adsorption data of AO on
MCSBR was fitted well with Freundlich model than Langmuir model. Moreover, MCSBR also showed
excellent reusability by consecutive sixes cycles of adsorption-desorption. So it is environmentally
friendly and low-cost adsorbent for removal of dyes in aqueous solution. |
