Abstract: The thermal expansion of an anisotropic ceramic disc with a central hole has been modelled. A small circular hole was placed in the centre of a solid circular plate, consisting of fine grains anisotropic crystal. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is defined by two orthogonal directions, i.e. radial and tangential. It is shown that a cross-sectional dimension of the hole may remain unchanged under certain conditions, when a small temperature change rises uniformly throughout the object.
