Abstract
One new monomer 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyldimethylallylammonium chloride (CHDM) was firstly synthesized. Then a series of novel copoly(CHDM-DM) dye-fixatives could be synthesized by copolymerization of new monomer CHDM and dimethyldiallylammonium chloride (DM), and the dye-fixing properties of obtained copoly(CHDM-DM) dye-fixatives were also studied. The results showed, the copoly(CHDM-DM) dye-fixative with 6% molar contents of CHDM units exhibited better dye-fixing properties than other copoly(CHDM-DM) dye-fixatives and the commerical PDM dye–fixatives due to the reactive groups (3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) which involved effective crosslinking reactions with the hydroxyl groups of cotton (cellulose) to form a covering film on cotton surface, for improving the fastness of dyes on cotton, which was expected to be the promosing dye-fixative.
