Abstract
Integric acid was isolated from the wood-decay fungus Xylaria feejeensis strain 2FB-PPM08M grown on potato dextrose broth. The compound showed weak antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. However, it was inactive against M. tuberculosis and had no antiviral effects on HSV-1 and H5N1 viruses. Notably, the metabolite exhibited inhibitory activity against the malarial parasite Plasmodium falciparum K1 strain, with IC50 values of 6.91 µM, and non-cytotoxicity against African green monkey kidney fibroblasts (Vero cells). This is the first report on its activity against P. falciparum.
