Abstract:
Coupling characteristics between two optically nonlinear planar waveguides have been performed in terms of their individual analytical solutions by converting a two-dimensional nonlinear waveguide into an approximate one-dimensional linear waveguide and one-dimensional nonlinear planar waveguides of optical spatial solitons. It is further shown that the explicit inclusion of the guide width and guide separation in the numerical solution for the fundamental mode of mode field distribution as well as the power coupling behaviors for different guide widths and guide separations.
