Abstract
Natural isolates of the carotenoid-producing yeast Rhodotorula glutinis were treated with the mutagenic agent ethyl methane sulfonate and plated on yeast extract peptone dextrose medium. Mutant isolates were collected and examined for production of carotenoids. The selected mB34 mutant contained higher levels of carotenoids than parent and other isolated strains.
