Abstract
The new complex of [Hg(2-AMPy)I2] (1) was synthesized from the reaction of HgI2 with 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (2-AMPy) in methanolic solution. Suitable crystals of 1 for diffraction experiment were obtained by slow evaporation from DMSO. Resulted complex was characterized by spectral methods (IR and 1H NMR), elemental analysis, thermal analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction method. In this compound, four coordinated arrangement of the Hg(II) center can be described as a seesaw geometry with the four-coordinate geometry index, t4, of 0.77.
