Abstract
The new ratio estimators of a population mean using one auxiliary variable in simple random sampling are introduced. The efficiency of these estimators are compared with the ratio estimators proposed by Sisodia and Dwivedi (1981), Singh and Kakran (1993) and, Upadhyaya and Singh (1999) on the basis of mean square error up to the first degree approximation. The results revealed that, under some conditions, the efficiency of ours estimators are higher. In addition, the theoretical of mean square error of the estimators are illustrated with numerical computation.
