In July of  last year, we were informed by Thomson Reuters in the USA that the Chiang Mai Journal of  Science had been selected for coverage in their products and information services. Starting with the January 2008 (Vol. 35, No. 1) issue, information on the contents of  the Journal has since been indexed in: 

• Science Citation Index Expanded  (also known as SciSearch)
• Journal Citation Reports / Science Edition

This coverage is in addition to the Journal’s existing inclusion in:

• Biological Abstracts
• BIOSIS Previews

What this means is that, as we enter 2009, the Journal enters the 2nd year of a 3-year indexing period during which the number of articles published in the Journal in 2008 and 2009 and the number of citations to those articles in 2010 will be monitored.  This will result in the Journal being assigned an Impact Factor for 2010 sometime during 2011.

Another important development that has taken place during the past year has been the appointment of 8 overseas members to the Editorial Board, equal in number to the 8 internal members from Chiang Mai University.  All of  these overseas members are internationally recognized experts in their respective fields and we are very privileged to have them on board to help ensure that the quality of the Journal continues to meet international standards and to suggest further improvements.  The full list of  Editorial Board members is given on the inside of  the front cover.

On behalf  of  everyone connected with the Chiang Mai Journal of  Science, I would like to thank all those people, too numerous to mention, who have contributed to helping the Journal achieve the level that it has now reached.  With the added encouragement of our coverage by the Science Citation Index Expanded and Journal Citation Reports, we look forward to the challenges that lie ahead in continuing to develop the Journal and, depending on demand, to increasing its frequency of publication in 2009 and beyond.
