Abstract: Microorganisms capable of degrading used lubricating-oil were isolated from various sources in Chiang Mai province. Out of 232 natural bacterial isolates, 7 isolates designated LO1-LO7 have shown acceptable biodegradability were selected. Their ability was investigated under different physical factors, such as proportional volume between bacterial to oil, temperature and pH. The result indicated that LO7 was the only isolate which exhibited the highest activity where its oil left content (grease and oil value) was under proofed standard value for contaminants in wastewater (<15g/lit).
